Trialling of nut varieties

The Irish Nut Growers are trialling a wide range of nut varieties on two sites, one in Co. Dublin and the other in Mayo. The two sites have considerable differences in soil type, depth and quality, and in climate and microclimate. It is hoped that a third trialling site will be established in the near future.

From these trials, much will be learned about which varieties are best for Irish conditions. The knowledge gained will be posted on this website, or included in the next edition of the Irish Nut Growers Nut Handbook (available free to participants on our Nut Cultivation workshop)
